About me
Hi, I’m Ryan! I started this blog as a way to document the crossroads of my professional growth, creative curiosity, and quiet hobbies. I’m recently finishing my MBA at the Asper School of Business in Winnipeg, where I’ve deepened my interest in finance, data storytelling, and sustainable business strategy. I also recently completed the CFA Level 1 exam — a challenge that tested both patience and spreadsheets. When both mixed together, while taking care of my son at the same time, that is the masterpiece of time management.
Originally from Southeast Asia, I moved to Canada with my wife and son in search of a slower, nature-filled life — one where morning coffee is a ritual and photography is a quiet way to see the world anew. I spend most of my time learning, writing, shooting with my Fujifilm X-T4, or brewing hand-crafted coffee (my wife would say I spend too much time adjusting recipes).
Although I used to manage trade finance portfolios and hedge billions in foreign exchange, these days I find joy in smaller things — like editing photos of my family’s memories, or exploring small towns around Winnipeg. Recently, I extended my Power tools library, the Power Bi, after understanding how great Power Query is. It’s all part of my journey to blend financial logic with creative freedom.
I’m also studying French and done for the CELPIP test — slowly but steadily. Long-term, I hope to help others navigate finance more simply, and inspire more interest in slow living, both online and off.
